Shanghai, China – June 25, 2026 — MicroPort® MedBot™ announced the successful completion of a cross-border robot-assisted telesurgical procedure connecting China and Thailand from the company's Global Telesurgery Command Center in Shanghai.

During the procedure, three Thai urologists jointly operated the Toumai® surgical robotic system from Shanghai to perform a robot-assisted radical prostatectomy on a patient located approximately 3,000 kilometres away in Thailand.
The procedure follows the Toumai® system's CE MDR certification for robot-assisted telesurgery announced on June 17, 2026, and further expands the company's international telesurgery programme.

Unlike domestic remote procedures, cross-border telesurgery requires secure transmission of clinical data across multiple telecommunications networks and jurisdictions, presenting additional technical and operational challenges. The Toumai® system supports a range of communication infrastructures—including 5G, broadband internet, dedicated fibre networks, and satellite communications—through low-latency transmission, multi-network integration, and secure data communication designed to support robotic-assisted telesurgery across diverse healthcare environments.
To date, the Toumai® surgical robotic system has supported more than 1,200 robot-assisted telesurgical procedures worldwide, connecting surgical teams across Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Africa. Toumai® has also surpassed 300 global commercial orders and has been installed in more than 60 countries and regions.
This latest procedure further strengthens Toumai®'s telesurgery activities in Southeast Asia and highlights the growing role of robotic-assisted surgery in supporting international clinical collaboration, surgical education, and improved access to specialist expertise across borders.
