Shanghai, China --- Prof. Keqin Hua from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University and her team completed a robotic-assisted laparoscopic total hysterectomy and bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy on December 03, 2021 with Toumai® Laparoscopic Surgical Robot (Toumai®) independently developed by Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd. (MicroPort® MedBot®). This is the first gynecologic surgery completed with Toumai® in East China. It has further proved that Toumai® is competent for all kinds of thoracic, abdominal and pelvic operations such as the gynecology, urology, thoracic surgery, hepatobiliary surgery and gastrointestinal surgery.

This case relates to a patient with multiple lung tumors, which was diagnosed as leiomyoma by lung puncture biopsy in other hospitals. Pathologists from other hospitals consider it as uterine leiomyoma metastasis, which is a rare case. After discussion, multi disciplinary team in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University recommended robotic-assisted laparoscopic total hysterectomy and bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy as treatments. Despite that the patient had a history of myomectomy in another hospital, and suffered serious abdominal adhesion, the Chinese-developed Toumai® fully demonstrated the surgical accuracy, stability and the advantage of causing less bleeding. Prof. Keqin Hua used the wrist-type instruments of Toumai® to separate adhension between tissues, and successfully removed the uterus and bilateral adnexa. Compared with common hysterectomy, this case is more complex and challenging. Prof. Keqin Hua fully demonstrated a doctor's kindness and superb level of gynecological minimal-invasive surgery.
