Bangkok, Thailand – April 21, 2026 — MicroPort® MedBot™ announced the successful completion of the first cross-border telesurgical procedure in Thailand using the Toumai® surgical robotic system. The procedure was conducted through collaboration between Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, under Thailand's Ministry of Public Health, and West China Hospital of Sichuan University across an approximate distance of 2,000 kilometers.

The procedure was performed by Prof. Pattharaporn Phetphosri from the West China International Telesurgery Command Center, jointly established by MicroPort® MedBot™ and West China Hospital. It was completed using existing broadband infrastructure without dedicated communication lines, demonstrating the system's ability to support remote robotic surgery under conventional network conditions.
On March 18, 2026, the Toumai® surgical robotic system received approval from the Thailand Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) for remote robotic surgery. The system has since been installed in four hospitals across Thailand, with approximately 50 surgeons completing system training and certification.

The achievement was recognized by Thailand's Department of Medical Services, whose Director-General observed the procedure and noted its potential to strengthen future medical collaboration between Thailand, China, and the broader international healthcare community.
Commenting on the procedure, Prof. Pattharaporn Phetphosri said:
"Throughout the procedure, the system responded smoothly and consistently, providing an operating experience comparable to working in the same operating room. The stable high-definition surgical view and responsive instrument control supported precise execution of critical surgical steps."
MicroPort® MedBot™ continues to collaborate with healthcare institutions across Southeast Asia to expand the clinical application of robotic-assisted surgery and support broader access to specialist surgical care.
