Harbin, China --- Professor Honghui Zhao, director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Fourth Hospital of Harbin Medical University, and his team completed a case of robot-assisted panhysterectomy on December 28, 2021 with Toumai^® Laparoscopic Surgical Robot (Toumai^®) independently developed by Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd. (MicroPort^® MedBot^®). This is the first confirmatory clinical trial surgery of gynecology completed with the Chinese-developed surgical robot in Northeast China. Toumai^® is provided with the wrist-turnable surgical instrument with multiple degrees of freedom, with the terminal rotation far exceeding the limit of human hands, thus achieving the precise surgery. It has demonstrated excellent performance in urology surgery, general surgery, thoracic surgery, gynecology and other surgical operations, and promoted the precision of minimal-invasive surgical technology of Chinese-developed surgical robots to a new level.
